TSN football analyst Chris Schultz is back with his Week 12 selections in the CFL. Air Max 97 Ingrosso . The Big Man finished 3-1 in Week 11, and sits at 28-17 on the season in Schultz vs. The World. Now Schultz is ready for more action, including his pick for the Western showdown between the Blue Bombers and Lions. Montreal Alouettes at Edmonton Eskimos The Alouettes may have found their quarterback in Jonathan Crompton while the Eskimos need their number one guy back in Mike Reilly. The last two games Crompton has played have been at home, a 10-point win against a RedBlacks team that has one win and last week a nine-point win against a Ticat team that has two wins. The quality of the competition steps up this week as they play a seven-win team in Edmonton that will be motivated to win again this week. Montreal is dangerous because if Crompton gets hot the Als have pretty much all the other pieces in place for consistent success. Was impressed with Duron Carter and his spectacular sideline catch and the contribution of Chad Johnson. I wonder if both will continue to excel over the next nine weeks because when it comes to the physical skills to play effective football, they have it. It will be very interesting to see how Edmonton now handles adversity. Everything was going so well but now with two losses in six days the invincibility of Eskimo football will be tested in terms of confidence. I remember the first Als-Eskimos game on August 8, 33-23 for Edmonton in Montreal in a game that was over by halftime. Not this one. Montreal is a better team by comparison to that time about a month ago, but not better than Edmonton. It should be close. Edmonton. Toronto Argonauts at Calgary Stampeders Will Andre Durie and Chad Owens be back? Those will be the two most important questions for Argonaut success come Saturday. They are coming off the bye week and still lead the East - as ridiculous as it sounds - with three wins going into Week 12 so both represent reasons for optimism. Yet, I cant see Calgary letting their preparation or execution waver this week. The Stampeders are 9-1 and the one loss came by one point to BC in the last three minutes. Could be a very good game but there is too much depth and talent in Calgary not to get a 10th win. Calgary. Winnipeg Blue Bombers at B.C. Lions Just like Edmonton, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have won three in a row over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Two came over the last two weeks and the third was August 7 in a 23-17 decision in Winnipeg. The Bombers need to get healthy and keep Drew Willy confident. Yes, that was a horrific throw that turned out to be a game-winning interception but it was offset by many other good plays. He will learn as a first-year starter. If BC creates a run-pass balance then the 23-6 loss back on July 25 shall be avenged. This is a tough one as Kevin Glenn is back in all likelihood and BC did only score seven points in Ottawa and it was not from a touchdown. Still the Bombers did not pass-block well against the Riders and did not stop the run. Again. BC, but it wont be easy. Saskatchewan Roughriders at Hamilton Tiger-Cats Game 2 at the new Tim Hortons Field and should be a better one than the first one, a 13-12 Hamilton win over Toronto on Labour Day. The best play last week in Montreal for Hamilton was the screen pass to Mossis Madu out of Oklahoma and successful it was. Richie Hall will be ready for it as a defensive coordinator. Zack Collaros played well and Hamilton played a good first half against Montreal. But it was just a half. Overall the Riders have a better pass rush and better pass protection, and run offence and run defence. They are just the better team. In Week 1, the fourth game of a young CFL season saw a final score of Riders 31, Tiger-Cats 10. This one will be closer but with the same winner. Saskatchewan Roughriders. Air Max 97 Prezzi Bassi . Kenny Miller scored from the penalty spot and Camilo Sanvezzo came off the bench to add two late goals as the Whitecaps kept their playoff hopes alive with a 3-0 victory over the sagging Impact on Saturday afternoon. Air Max 97 Scontate .Y. - Islanders forward Anders Lee has been fined $2,286 by the NHL for elbowing St. http://www.airmax97italia.it/ . Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane came up big when it counted, tallying two goals and an assist. He scored the game-winner with 4:45 remaining in the third period, stopping on the right hashmarks, carrying the puck up through the top of the Kings zone, then firing a wrist shot from the top of the circles past Jonathan Quick, who had his view obstructed by Andrew Shaw.RENTON, Wash. -- Back from their bye week, with the best record in the NFL and heading into a Monday night showdown with the Saints, Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks spent Tuesday dealing with the kinds of distractions they believed were over. Instead, the Seahawks are adding to the list of player suspensions theyve faced since Carroll took over in 2010. "Were still trying to work through it. Ill say it again, Ive always found myself looking for guys that maybe other people dont see something special in and we take a chance on a guy here or there that needs some extra consideration and care," Carroll said. "And sometimes guys they have issues and things pop up but Ive always been kind of hopeful and make guys find the best in them and bring it out. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesnt. Well certainly hang with our guys and take care of them." Starting cornerback Walter Thurmond was officially suspended Tuesday by the NFL for the teams next four games for violating the leagues substance abuse policy, leaving the Seahawks short-handed going into Mondays matchup against New Orleans. Thurmond will be eligible to return to the active roster on Monday, Dec. 23, before the final game of the regular season, but his absence leaves a hole in a secondary that was previously missing starting cornerback Brandon Browner because of a groin injury. Thurmonds suspension was first reported by NFL.com over the weekend. Thurmond took to Twitter and apologized on Sunday, writing, "Yes I made a mistake and I have to live with the consequences. Im disappointed in myself for letting my teammates and family down." Thurmonds is the sixth Seattle player officially suspended for substance-abuse or performance-enhancing drugs violations by the league since 2011. That doesnt include Richard Sherman, whose suspension was overturned on appeal late last season. "I dont know that we can expect to be perfect. We would like to be, but that isnt the case," Carroll said. "Its a big challenge for these guys to do right and we want them to do it and carry through and be there when we need them and count on them. It doesnt always work that way. It presents opportunities for other guys. Weve always championed that and our guys have always come through and theyll do that again in this instance." Thurmond has started three games this season for Seattle, including the teams last game against Minnesota when he had his first interception of the season and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown. Even when he wasnt starting, Thurmond was a critical member of one of the NFLs best secondary units as the fifthh defensive back in passing situations. Air Max 97 Scontate Uomo. Thurmond beat out veteran Antoine Winfield, whom Seattle signed in the off-season, for the nickel cornerback spot during training camp. He had struggled with injuries throughout his career but was finally healthy and playing well ahead of an off-season where he will be a free agent. Seattle moved quickly to fill Thurmonds roster spot, signing veteran Perrish Cox, who worked out for the team recently after being released by San Francisco on Nov. 12. Cox played in 25 games over two seasons with the 49ers in a reserve role after starting nine games for Denver in 2010. Seattle had also worked out former cornerback Marcus Trufant, who has not played this season, before deciding on signing Cox. The Seahawks are likely to lean on young backups Byron Maxwell and Jeremy Lane. Maxwell had been seeing more playing time, especially on passing downs when Thurmond would move inside to cover slot receivers. Lane started three games late last season when Browner was serving a four-game suspension for using performance enhancing drugs and Thurmond was injured. Carroll also indicated that DeShawn Shead will be promoted from the practice squad to the active roster, but that move was not made official on Tuesday. Presumably, Sheads promotion will coincide with a roster move involving Browner, who is also reportedly facing a suspension for a substance-abuse violation. Shead can play both cornerback and safety. Its his second season with the Seahawks, most of that spent on the practice squad. He was added to the 53-man roster late last season but was inactive for each game. Hes been getting paid this season at the same rate as a second-year player on the 53-man roster according to the NFLPA database. Carroll said despite the continued problems he doesnt believe his message or approach needs to change. "Well always look to do it better. Were on it. I think this team is very strong about where were going and what were doing. Because somebody slips, that doesnt mean were not on track," Carroll said. "I believe were on a tremendous track right now. The focus around here, the dedication to what were doing, the standard that we hold them to in all areas. Look at where we are; were exemplary in many, many areas and were really proud of it. But that doesnt mean somebody is not going to slip and make a mistake now and then." NOTES: Seattle WR Percy Harvin was held out of practice on Tuesday. Carroll reiterated that Harvin is day to day. ... WR Jermaine Kearse did practice after suffering a concussion in Seattles Week 11 win over Minnesota. FORT WORTH, Texas -- Criminal charges have been dropped against Cowboys defensive tackle Henry Melton over a 2013 altercation at a Dallas-area bar. Cheap Yeezy Boost 350 China . Tarrant County prosecutors on Wednesday announced the misdemeanour case against Melton has been dismissed, along with civil proceedings. Melton was arrested in December in Grapevine, where he went to high school, on charges of misdemeanour assault and public intoxication. Police said Melton refused to leave and allegedly fought with bar workers. He denied the allegations. The bar owner and Melton both sued. Prosecutors on Wednesday said the civil proceedings were dismissed without either party paying damages and the bar owner requested that criminal charges be dropped. Melton was with the Bears since 2010. The Cowboys in March signed Melton to an incentive-laden one-year contract with a $1.25 million base salary. Discount Yeezy 350 Sale . -- Michael Bennett gambled last off-season that playing on a one-year deal in Seattle would pay off in the future with the long-term contract he always wanted. Cheap Yeezy Boost 350 .The seventh-seeded Raonic was scheduled to play U.S. Open finalist Kei Nishikori of Japan, but was replaced in the Group B pool by Spanish substitute David Ferrer.Raonic, who was 0-2 at the year-end event, said he suffered the injury late in the first set of Tuesdays 6-3, 7-6 loss to Murray. http://www.discountyeezy350.com/ .com) - Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is set to return Tuesday against Nashville after sitting out the past two games because of a minor upper body injury.BOSTON -- Martin Perez put Bostons leadoff hitter on base in seven innings. Then the left-hander pitched Texas out of jams by getting five double plays. That helped the Rangers withstand a late rally and beat the Red Sox 10-7 on Tuesday night. The double play is "a pitchers best friend," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "They got on base, but he was able to eliminate them." Bostons five double plays were one fewer than the American League record for a nine-inning game shared by eight teams. The major league mark of seven was set by the San Francisco Giants in 1969. "Five double plays and we scored seven runs. Im sure thats pretty rare, too," Jonny Gomes said after Bostons fourth loss in five games. "If we can score seven runs with five double plays, I think were scratching the surface on the positive side." The Red Sox grounded into double plays by Dustin Pedroia in the first inning, A.J. Pierzynski in the second, Jackie Bradley Jr. in the third, Ryan Roberts in the fifth and Pedroia in the sixth. Perez (1-0) allowed four runs and eight hits in 6 1-3 innings. "Im not a power pitcher," he said. "Im a groundball pitcher and when you throw good pitches down in the zone that happens." Robinson Chirinos started a five-run third inning with his first homer of the season and the Rangers led 9-1 through six. Boston scored three runs in the seventh and, after Michael Choice made it 10-4 with a sacrifice fly in the ninth, the Red Sox scored three times in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Gomes and a two-run double by David Ortiz against Joakim Soria. Mike Napoli, who had three singles for the second straight game, struck out to end it. The Rangers finished with 13 hits, the first time in six games that they had at least 10. And they were 7 for 15 with runners in scoring position one night after going 0 for 8 in a 5-1 loss in the opener of the three-game series. But designated hitter Adrian Beltre left in the sixth with tightness in the front of his left thigh and was to return to Texas to be examined. He was bothered by tightness on the side of that thigh in spring training. Wholesale Yeezy Boost 350. "We had an 8-1 lead," said Washington, who didnt know how serious the injury was. "He aggravated it. I dont see why I should leave him in there." Texas won for the second time in five games as every starter reached base by the fourth inning. Chirinos second career homer broke a scoreless tie and began an inning in which the Rangers batted around against Felix Doubront (1-1). Shin-Soo Choo singled with one out and scored on a two-out double by Prince Fielder, who entered the game with four hits in 28 at-bats and just one RBI. The other runs scored on a single by Beltre, a double by Donnie Murphy and a bases-loaded walk to Chirinos. "Once were down five, even though we got a number of leadoff hitters on base, weve got to be a little bit protective of just giving away outs," Boston manager John Farrell said. "It was the groundball double play that snuffed everything out." The Rangers added three runs in the fourth against Burke Badenhop. Choo led off with a walk, went to second on a single by Elvis Andrus and scored on a single by Fielder. Beltre followed with a run-scoring double and Murphy made it 8-0 with a sacrifice fly. Boston scored in the fourth on a double by Pedroia and a single by Napoli. Texas got that run back in the fifth on doubles by Chirinos and Choo. Adding on runs at Fenway Park is important, "especially late in this ballpark," Washington said. "Those guys have taken a lot of ballgames away, so every time you get an opportunity to put a run on the board you want to do it." The Red Sox cut the lead to 9-4 in the seventh on an RBI single by Pierzynski and a two-run double by Bradley. NOTES: Andrus and Alex Rios have hits in all eight Rangers games. ... Roberts made his debut for Boston after signing as a free agent Monday. He spent last season with Tampa Bay and spring training this year with the Chicago Cubs. ... WASHINGTON -- Giancarlo Stanton rattled Nationals Park like few, if any, who have been here before, nailing a fastball that might still be rolling among the citys tourist attractions had it not clanged loudly off the facade of the middle deck in foul territory. Wholesale Nike SB . The stadium gasped. Reliever Drew Storen, already with men on first and second with none out in the seventh inning of a tie game, was on the ropes. Then Storen threw Stanton a slider. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Momentum shifted. Two popouts later, the inning was over with no damage done, and the Washington Nationals scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins. "He hit that ball off the Capitol," Storen said. "So its one of those things that he was obviously looking for a heater there, so you just kind of go up and throw a good pitch to him, and it worked out all right." The Nationals need such resolve from Storen -- and the rest of the roster for that matter -- if theyre to become relevant again in the playoff race. Theyve won seven of eight as they hit a soft portion of the schedule, but they remain seven games behind Cincinnati, which beat St. Louis 10-0, for the NLs second wild-card berth. Storen (4-2) has been mostly solid since his early season struggles that sent him back to the minors. He picked up the win as the fourth of six Nationals pitchers on a night when starter Stephen Strasburg was done after two innings because of a 72-minute rain delay. Tyler Clippard worked the eighth, and Rafael Soriano the ninth for his 35th save. Strasburg had promising stuff -- he got his six outs on 22 pitches with no hits allowed -- but the silver lining is that the brief outing might allow him to pitch Sunday on short rest. Ian Desmond had three hits, including the go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning, for the Nationals. He also scored a run and stole a base and has six hits in the first two games of the series. "Things are on my side right now," Desmond said. "I havent hit too many balls on the barrel, but Im fortunate enough to get hits. Im in a good spot mentally right now, and a majority of the game is just mental." The Nationals broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh off Mike Dunn (3-4). Denard Span walked to lead off the inning, then advanced to second when Dunn bounced a pickoff attempt for a throwing error. Werth was intentionally walked with two outs, and Desmond scored Span with a single to left. The Marlins have lost seven of eight, a skid that manager Mike Redmond tried to halt by switching around his lineup. He batted rookie Christian Yelich third for the first time, moving Stanton and Logan Morrison down one notch each to fourth and fifth. It was the first time Stanton had batted cleanup this season. Stanton hit a solo homer in the sixth -- the inning before his big at-bat against Storen -- Yelich drew a pair of walks, and Morrision had a single, but the Marlins couldnt string together their hits. They went 2 for 11 with runners in scoring position, leaving Redmond uncertain as to whether to stick with the lineup for another day. "I liked the fact that it looked like we kind of swung the bats a little better as far as the hits," Redmond said. "I dont know. Ill have to sleep on it. Well see what I can come up with tomorrow." It was a dog days game for both teams -- at least it felt that way when counting up all the little mistakes. Washingtons Anthony Rendon made a baserunning gaffe on a ground ball and was thrown out at third, and Bryce Harper bobbled a base hit for an error that allowed the batter to get to second. Miamis Morrison got caught in a rundown between third and home, Dunn had his throwing error, and the Marlins couldnt do anything after getting two on with none out against Storen. "You get in those situations. It usually comes down to a great defensive play or a big hit," Redmond said. "And weve been on the other end of both most of the year." Notes: How inept are the Marlins at the plate? Theyve drawn 31 walks in their last nine games -- and none of those 31 runners have scored. ... Washington is 5-0 vs. Miami at home this season. ... Harper had an RBI double in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to 10 games, his first double-digit hitting streak in the majors. Span pushed his hitting streak to 11 games. Cheap Wholesale Nike SB Shoes . After Mondays comments by Coach Claude Noel that its work first and skill second, and that more “A” games are needed, the Jets responded with a 47-shot effort. If not for terrific goaltending by Braden Holtby the Jets would have had two points in regulation. Cheap Nike Sb Free Shipping . Hes recovered from a scary injury and cleared to play. Mingo, who was hospitalized with a bruised lung he sustained in an Aug. http://www.wholesalenikesb.com/ . -- Two out of three aint bad. SAN FRANCISCO -- Tony Campana and Cliff Pennington made the most of their rare starts for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Campana drove Pennington in with the go-ahead run on an RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning to lead the Diamondbacks to their first back-to-back wins of the season with a 6-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday night. "Its just us being ready," Campana said. "We both kind of kept our routine the same. You kind of come in every day ready to play. Today we got the start and both did a pretty good job at the plate and got the win." Campana had a career-high four hits and Pennington added three, including a two-run single as both players made just their second starts of the young season. "Theyre not rookies, and they prepare themselves properly," manager Kirk Gibson said. "They were ready to play tonight." Miguel Montero also drove in two runs for the Diamondbacks, who won the final two games of the series. Michael Morse hit a two-run double that gave the Giants the lead, but an error by third baseman Pablo Sandoval allowed the tying run to score in the eighth and San Francisco fell in extra innings to lose their first home series since last August against Boston. Pennington hit a one-out single off Yusmeiro Petit (0-1) in the 10th and then stole second base on a 2-2 pitch to Campana with two outs. Campana then blooped a single just over the outstretched glove of second baseman Brandon Hicks to score the go-ahead run. "It took some pressure off once he got to second," Campana said. "I knew I just had to get it through the infield somehow. Got jammed and got over his head barely." J.J. Putz (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth for the win and Addison Reed got three outs for his third save in as many chances. The Diamondbacks failed to score in the seventh after loading the bases with no outs, but got the tying run an inning later on Sandovals bad throw. Cheap Nike Sb China. With runners on first and second and two outs in the eighth, Campana hit a slow grounder to Sandoval, who rushed his throw to first. The ball sailed over Brandon Belts head allowing Gerardo Parra to score the tying run from second. "You have to keep your poise," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He got in a rush mode there. With the game on the line, you have to be a bit more cautious. You have to know the situation." Sandoval had a chance to make up for that mistake in the bottom half but couldnt deliver. The Giants loaded the bases with one out with help from a fly to centre that Campana misjudged to give Brandon Crawford a leadoff double. Belt hit a fly ball to left field that was not deep enough to let Crawford tag from third. Sandoval then flied out to deep right to end the inning. The Diamondbacks jumped on top early against Ryan Vogelsong with a two-run single by Pennington in the second inning and a two-run double by Montero in the third to take a 4-1 lead. The Giants hitters chipped away after the early deficit, getting a run in the third on the first bunt single of Buster Poseys career when he surprised Arizona with a two-out bunt with Angel Pagan on third. Back-to-back doubles by Morse and Crawford to open the fourth made it 4-3 and Morses double off Will Harris in the fifth gave the Giants the lead. NOTES: Arizona manager Kirk Gibson unsuccessfully challenged a play at second base in the first inning when Campana was caught stealing to end the inning after a strikeout to Paul Goldschmidt. ... DETROIT -- Max Scherzer agreed to a one-year contract that leaves his future with the Detroit Tigers as uncertain as ever. Discount Yeezy Boost 350 . The AL Cy Young Award winners deal for 2014 is worth $15,525,000, and it enables Scherzer and the Tigers to avoid arbitration with the right-handers free agency still looming less than a year away. Scherzer could have an even bigger payday coming soon -- one way or another. He is eligible to go on the market after the season, although the Tigers would love to sign a long-term contract with him. General manager Dave Dombrowski said Friday this one-year agreement doesnt necessarily preclude a lengthier deal before opening day. "We still have that desire," Dombrowski said. Detroit announced Scherzers deal along with one-year agreements with right-handers Rick Porcello and Al Alburquerque, and outfielders Andy Dirks and Austin Jackson. All had filed for arbitration. Catcher Alex Avila is Detroits only remaining player who filed for arbitration without an agreement. The 29-year-old Scherzer went 21-3 with a 2.90 ERA and 240 strikeouts last season, and the Tigers advanced to the AL championship series against Boston. He made $6,725,000 last year, and another stellar season could put the right-hander in position for a contract similar to those of teammate Justin Verlander ($180 million for seven years) and Seattles Felix Hernandez ($175 million for seven) or even the Los Angeles Dodgers Clayton Kershaw ($215 million for seven). Porcello went 13-8 with a 4.32 ERA and a career-high 142 strikeouts in 2013. Alburquerque appeared in 53 games, posting a 4-3 record and a 4.59 ERA. Dirks hit .256 with 16 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 37 RBIs. Jackson batted .272 with 30 doubles, seven triples, 12 homers and 49 RBIs. Detroit freed up some money by trading first baseman Prince Fielder and right-hander Doug Fister, but the Tigers also signed closer Joe Nathan. With Verlander and right-hander Anibal Sanchez already earning big money, Detroit faces a challenge trying to keep together an impressive core. Scherzers deal was announced a day after David Prices one-year agreement with Tampa Bay. Price, the 2012 AL Cy Young winner, agreed at $14 million. Verlander had core muscle repair surgery earlier this month, but hes expected back during spring training. If healthy, he and Scherzer form perhaps the best starting duo in baseball, with Sanchez, Porcello and Drew Smyly rounding out the rest of the rotation. Cheap Yeezy Boost 350 . OAKLAND, Calif. Jordan Henderson Jersey . -- Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has agreed to a three-year extension that will keep him under contract through the 2017-18 season. A Warriors spokesman confirmed the agreement late Thursday night. The Bay Area News Group, citing an anonymous source, first reported the deal. Myers has been Golden States general manager since April 2012 and has been a key cog in the franchises turnaround. The Warriors have reached the playoffs the past two seasons, and Myers has helped assemble a talented young nucleus around All-Star point guard Stephen Curry. Myers, along with co-owner Joe Lacob, also oversaw the firing of Warriors coach Mark Jackson and the hiring of Steve Kerr this off-season. TORONTO - Toronto FC trained under grey skies Tuesday, minus its two biggest names and with just one meaningless game remaining. Scarpe Jordan Uomo Scontate .English striker Jermain Defoe was rehabbing a groin injury that appears to have ended his season prematurely while Michael Bradley was seeing a doctor for a foot issue. The American midfielder had a minor procedure on his foot earlier in the season but is expected to play Saturday in New England.Head coach Greg Vanney said he will field his strongest available team against the playoff-bound Revolution. We want to go into an off-season with a win, ideally, said Vanney.New England (16-13-4) has little to play for given it has already clinched second place in the Eastern Conference and cannot move up or down. It will await other weekend results to see if it plays Sporting Kansas City, the Columbus Crew or New York Red Bulls in the conference semifinals. While the Revolution wonder what lies ahead, Toronto was forced to revisit another disappointing season Tuesday.Toronto (11-14-8) was officially eliminated from post-season contention after a 1-1 draw with visiting Montreal last Saturday, a result that prompted a larger than usual media contingent to pick over the carcass at the clubs first availability of the week. Can you believe how this (season) has kind of unravelled? was one question. When do you think the train went off the tracks?Whats missing with this club? For veteran observers of the club, it was deja vu all over.Toronto has set single-season franchise records for wins (11) and points (41) but failed in its most important goal — making the playoffs for the first time since coming into the league in 2007We felt we amassed a playoff side and we never achieved it, so weve let the city down in a sense and weve let ourselves down, said captain Steven Caldwell.Toronto heads into the off-season with question marks over Defoe and fellow designated player Gilberto. The Brazilian striker was forced to deny a report that came out last week that he was unhappy and wanted out of the club. The rumours arent true, he said through an interpreter. But while saying he was happy in Toronto, he acknowledged his future here was not necessarily in his hands. Its up to the club, the GM and the coach about next season, what they want to do with the team. So its not in my hands.Defoe, whose future with the club has been up in the air since Toronto turned down a club-record transfer bid for him at the end of the last transfer window, declined to speak to reporters Tuesday. The club has already said that Vanney, whose record is 2-5-2 since taking over from the fired Ryan Nelsen in late August, will be back at the helm next season.Job No. 1 remains changing the team culture on and off the field. More is needed everywhere. In order to develop this culture of winning, I think we all need to be better, Vanney said. We need to expect more of ourselves and we need to push for that every single day. And were going to look for and push our core group of players to understand and take onboard what all that means. So were all going to have to do a little more in this off-season to be better coming into next season. And we will have a very clear plan and direction of where we (are) going and were only looking for people who want to push in that direction and are willing to put everything aside to get that done. The club, the fans, the ownership deserve success out of this organization and were going to put forward everything we can to move it in that direction. It has been a common theme of late, with Vanney making it clear that the team must be of one mind. What I think is important is that we have players that are here that want to be here, dont want to be anywhere else but here and not for just one year but for a minimum of a few years, Vanney said last week.Bradley seemed to be on the same page, in comments after a 3-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls earlier in the month. Its important that the right balance is found between keeping a good part of the group together and making sure that the guys who have the right mentality, who have the right commitment, who really bring something every day in a footballing sense — that those guys are here and given every chance to continue to grow together and improve, he said.On Tuesday, Vanney seemed to muddy the waters a bit.Im pretty sure that most of the guys want to be here, Vanney said. If there are guys who dont want to be here, they havent told me directly.Asked why all the talk about needing players who want to be here if they all do, Vanney replied: Because people keep asking me.Asked if he was seeing the desired commitment from all his players in games and at practice, Vanney gave a qualified yes.I have seen the commitment from everybody, yes, he said. Were always pushing guys who are injured to give us a little more, were always pushing guys who we think we can get a little bit more out of and obviously there are moments — which I think is part of the culture thing — where guys take plays off in training and those are the moments we have to get out of.We need the best of everybody all the time.———Follow @NeilMDavidson on Twitter. Carleton picked up its fourth straight national mens basketball title, and 10th in the last 12 years, with a 79-67 victory over its crosstown rival on Sunday.SEATTLE -- Jermain Defoe gave Toronto FC its moneys worth on Saturday. Defoe, one of Torontos marquee off-season signings, scored both of his teams goals in a 2-1 win against the Seattle Sounders to start TFCs Major League Soccer season. It was Torontos first win to open a season since 2009, and only the second in its seven-year existence. "I thought the guys were magnificent in the first half when it came to their football and magnificent in the second half when it came to their desire and their character," said Toronto head coach Ryan Nelsen. Defoe, who hadnt scored since Jan. 11 for former club Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, needed just 24 minutes to secure the win for his new team. He spoke earlier this week about his desire to perform well in case England coach Roy Hodgson was watching. With his two-goal performance on Saturday, Defoe has renewed hope for inclusion in Englands squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil this summer. "To score two goals on your debut, its a dream," Defoe said. "The England thing is obviously going to be at the back of my mind." After early pressure from the Sounders, Defoe made a run between two Seattle defenders in the 17th minute. Jonathan Osorio, on the ball in midfield, slipped a perfectly weighted pass through the gap, and Defoe nestled the ball into the goal. Seven minutes later, Defoe picked up a loose ball after a Sounders giveaway near their own penalty area. He found space to cut to the right and fire another shot past goalkeeper Stefan Frei. "The first goal was a great ball, and you just have to finish it off," Defoe said. "The second half, we showed great character because they put us under a lot of pressure. Youve got to do that sometimes away from home." Seattle began the second half as it did the first, pressuring Torontos goal. Another big-name signing, Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar, made his first important intervention in the 53rd minute. He fell tto his right and stuck out his left leg, deflecting a close-range shot from Obafemi Martins out for a corner kick. Air Jordan Scarpe Saldi. However, the Sounders pressure would eventually pay off. Seattles own Designated Players, Martins and Clint Dempsey, combined down the right flank in the 68th minute, putting Dempsey in space on top of the penalty area. The U.S. international took a settling touch with his left foot before slamming a right-footed shot low and to Cesars left. The CenturyLink Field crowd of 38,441 came to life, and the Seattle attack continued to press. Torontos back line held, helped by several foul calls by referee Ioannis Stavrides close to its goal, despite dropping into a defensive shell for the last 15 minutes of the game. Notably, Seattle substitute Kenny Cooper got behind the defence with five minutes remaining, but his central pass went wayward under pressure from Cesar rushing out of his goal. Osorio headed clear a tame Sounders corner kick in stoppage time, which effectively closed out the match. "Theres no doubt in my mind that as the season goes on, well continue to improve, and our football will be good," said Toronto midfielder Michael Bradley, another one of the clubs big off-season signings . "Tonight was different. Tonight was about the spirit, the mentality and doing whatever it took to come away with three points." Nelsen downplayed the result throughout his post-game talk with media, choosing instead to expound his desire for consistency over a long MLS season. "Weve got so much to improve on. Were not stupid," he said. "What I like about this team is their heart, their character, their desire -- that they want to win. Thats what you hope for. You build your house on that type of foundation." Toronto (1-0) plays its first home game of the season on March 22 when it hosts D.C. United at BMO Field. Seattle (1-1) takes to the road for the first time the same day, playing the Montreal Impact. (SportsNetwork. Virgil Green Jersey .com) - The Los Angeles Clippers will dust themselves off from a recent loss and close out a three-game road trip Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center. The Clippers had a nine-game winning streak cut short with Fridays 104-96 loss to the Washington Wizards and were unbeaten in five straight on the road. Chris Paul led the visitors with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Blake Griffin scored 14 points and Jamal Crawford totaled 12 for Los Angeles, which made 42.7 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 18 times for 21 Washington points. Paul coughed up the ball six times and Matt Barnes five. We played a little uncharacteristic tonight, Paul said. I dont know the last time I had six turnovers. LA, which is 8-3 as the guest, opened the trip with a win at Indiana on Wednesday and will play two in a row at home versus Detroit and the Pacers. The Clippers are fourth in the NBA with 106.4 points per game and had scored 100 or more points in each of the previous nine games. Milwaukee is well rested and last played in Tuesdays 114-101 setback to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Russell Westbrook scored 28 points and Kevin Durant added 23 to lead OKC. O.J. Mayo paced the Bucks with 18 points, Giannis Antetokounmpo added 17 and rookie Jabari Parker scored 15 points for Milwaukee, which shot 40.5 percent and lost for the fifth time in the last six tries. We missed a lot of shots that we normally make and I think that carried over to our defense, Bucks head coach Jason Kidd said. The Bucks will have to slow down a hungry Clippers team looking to get back on track and are allowing 100.5 ppg. They have a 6-4 home record and will start a four-game western jaunt Monday in Phoenix. Milwaukee has scored 100-plus points in 11 of the past 13 contests, including eight straight. Perhaps that will help against the high-scoring Clippers. The last time the Bucks scored 100 or more points in nine straight games was from Nov. 30 - Dec. 18, 1991. Los Angeles and Milwaukee will play the first of two meetings this season Saturday and are slated to battle Dec. 20 out west. The Clippers took both meetings with the Bucks last season and five straight overall. Caleb Sturgis Chargers Jersey . Case in point: LeBron James vs. Ben McLemore. Mark Jackson was unable to keep his job despite leading the Warriors to 51 wins a year ago and nine playoff wins during his three-year stint -- more victories (six) than Golden State had in its previous two decades. The rookie head coach Kerr, who won five NBA championship rings as a player, will attempt to guide the Warriors beyond the second round of the playoffs this season for the first time in 40 years. A lot of fun, Kerr said of his first game. We finally started fighting on the glass and once we did that we were able to get loose in our transition. Klay Thompson had 19 points and six assists for Golden State, which fell to the Los Angeles Clippers in seven games during the first round of last seasons NBA playoffs. Marreese Speights provided 16 points off the bench and Draymond Green added 12 points and 10 boards in the triumph. DeMarcus Cousins posted 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings, who turned the ball over 27 timess. Uchenna Nwosu Jersey. It was at 5:40 in the third quarter when we were up by one, and we turned into the Keystone Cops, Kings head coach Michael Malone said. A Rudy Gay dunk in transition off a Darren Collison steal staked the Kings to a 54-51 lead in the third before Golden State pulled away following a 19-2 run. Six different Warriors scored during the burst with Harrison Barnes and Curry each putting in five. Speights capped the surge with a driving layup along the right side of the lane for a healthy 70-56 Warriors cushion late in the third. Golden State took a 73-63 advantage into the fourth and never trailed by less than double figures in the final frame. Neither team led by more than seven in the first half. Leandro Barbosa finished off an 8-0 spurt with a layup to give the Warriors a 23-16 margin late in the first before Carl Landrys dunk in the final second pulled Sacramento within 25-23 after a quarter of play. The Kings led 49-47 at the break. Game Notes Golden State tallied 26 points off those Sacramento turnovers ... The importance of Saturdays home match against the Portland Timbers cannot be overstated. Vans Scarpe Online Saldi . It may fall short of must-win, but not by much. Six games to go and a three-point gap stand in the way of Toronto FC and a playoff spot. They are on the outside looking in. The good news is they are within arms reach with plenty of promise in their hunt for points. The outlook is beginning to look much brighter for Toronto. The team is as healthy and fit as it has been all season. Continuity is building. Star striker Jermain Defoe is on the verge of returning. And difficult matches lay ahead for Torontos competitors for playoff spots. On top of it all, Toronto FC has a game in hand on the competition. Giving head Coach Greg Vanney his first managerial victory, a convincing 3-0 win over Chivas USA last Sunday was the first step. Using the performance as a springboard to bigger and better things is next on the agenda. Here are my Five Thoughts ahead of the massive Toronto FC-Portland Timbers match-up on Saturday (1pm ET). 1) Jackson leaves a hole a€“ It was arguably the Brazilians best match of the season before getting sent off against Chivas. He had scored a goal, was taking on opponents on the dribble at will, and using his physical presence to cause all kinds of problems in the back-line. It was a Man of the Match type performance until he lost composure after not getting a call late in the proceedings. Jackson recklessly dove at the legs of Nigel Reo-Coker: a leg-breaking type challenge Reo-Coker rightfully took exception to. Both players were sent off, Jackson suspended and now Vanney is left to fill the right midfield hole with another option. Its the kind of selfishness from a player that will drive a coach crazy. Moving forward without Jackson is no easy task. There is no ready-made replacement for the versatile Brazilian. Dominic Oduro seems the logical stand-in, but with so much firepower in Portlands team, Vanney may be better off turning to a more defensive minded option. If that is the case, Warren Creavalle is a fit. Defensive shape and structure is priority, especially considering the good run of form Gilberto and Luke Moore are having upfront. The move putting Jonathan Osorio in central-midfield (finally) makes for more fluidity in attack. So Id turn to Creavalle on the right side, leaving Oduro on the bench, having the option to bring on the speedster late in the match to change the tempo. 2) Gilberto warning a€“ Player interviews the day before matches typically dont reveal true talking points. That theory held true Friday until a somewhat awkward exchange with Gilberto when asked about the return of Defoe. Toronto FCs top scorer is targeting a return to game action next week in Los Angeles, likely sending one of Moore or Gilberto back to the bench. After giving a quizzical look to the question that was asked, Gilberto came to the defence of the current attack partnership. Our strikers have been playing well, Luke (Moore) has been playing well since Defoes been gone, for about four to six weeks, he said through an interpreter. So its kind of like Defoe has to win his spot back on the team because our strikers are playing really well now. Weve got other guys that are training really hard and fighting and Defoes got to start training hard now and working to get back into game shape. There is always worry some of what is said is lost in translation. But it was clear the Brazilian didnt take well to the question. Gilbertos words shouldnt be taken as being controversial, rather from a place of pride in a player who is intent on continuing his progress in MLS. Gilberto also spoke Friday of his growing confidence and comfort in the league. Five goals in his last nine games (should be six) speak to his growth. It is admirable Gilberto believes players must fight for their place in the team, no matter who they are. Look for both Toronto FC strikers to be further motivated Saturday to prove their worth, making Vanneys decision that much more difficult when Defoe is deemed fit. Unfortunately for Gilberto and Moore, one will surely sit in favour of the big money, big-time goal-scorer who has the ability to change a game like few in MLS. 3) Captain Caldwell a€“ Its no coincidence Toronto kept their first clean sheet in eight games with Steven Caldwell leading the line last weekend. Goalkeeper Joe Bendik acknowledged as much, speaking of superior communication and organization. Caldwell (quad) has played two games in Toronto FCs last 13. Toronto only won two games with Caldwell out. Its a cautionary tale for MLS teams: have requisite veteran experience across the back-line or pay the consequences. Toronto FC rolled with a 21-year old Doneil Henry and 22-year old rookie Nick Hagglund in his absence. Both players did what they could, but with all the changes at the back, including Justin Morrow out through injury, the task proved to be too much, too soon for the young defenders. The experienced presence of Caldwell was desperately missed. Tim Bezbatchenko tried to acquire a veteran defender to no avail before the MLS roster freeze. It can be argued Toronto FC would be in a preferable position in the table had Caldwell remained in the team or Toronto FC had requisite veteran depth at the all-important position. 4) Terrific Timbers a€“ Its been a busy and fruitful week for Portland. A 6-0 win in the CONCACAF Champions League Tuesday on the surface seems a distraction heading into the all-important trip to Toronto. In fairness, the match shouldnt be a decisive factor, with head coach Caleb Porter resting his regulars for the game. Still, the teams midweek commitment and cross-continent travel is never easy, especially for a 1pm ET kick-off for a west-coast team. That being said, the Timbers are a strong side, coming off a thorough 3-0 dismantling of the Vancouver Whitecaps last weekend, leapfrogging their Cascadia rival in the standings. Portland now has a two-point cushion over Vancouver for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Sitting nine points back of FC Dallas for fourth place and eight points up on seventh place Colorado, its basically a battle between Portland and Vancouver for the final playoff spot. Needless to say, Saturday is huge for the visitors. The player to watch is Diego Valeri, the leading candidate for MLS MVP. He has been that good. The 2013 MLS Newcomer of the Year won MLS Goal of the Week for his picture perfect volley against Vancouver, adding to his impressive nine goals and 14 assists (2nd in MLS) on the season. The 28-year old Argentine may be the best of the bunch on the team, but Portland has a squad full of top MLS talent. Nigerian newcomer Fanendo Adi and former Toronto FC striker Maximillano Urruti have combined for 17 goals. Canadian International Will Johnson is team captain, providing added quality and work-rate in the middle of the park. Portlands true weakness is at the back, conceding 48 goals on the season, the worst rate among teams in playoff spots. 5) Getting to BMO Field a€“ WARNING: Leave early if youre heading down for the match. The Gardiner Expressway is closed all weekend from the 427 to Carlaw. It will be gridlock at its worst and a traffic nightmare. Go Train or other transit is preferable. Head to Liberty Village early and grab a bite and a beverage. Its worth avoiding the headache and the team needs support with bodies in the crowd from the opening whistle. Parking will be a nightmare as well, with Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer to benefit Princess Margaret Hospital is going on all day at Ontario Place. Toronto FC is acting accordingly, staying in a downtown hotel tonight rather than their own beds. You can listen to Toronto FC v. Portland Timbers on TSN 1050 Radio (pre-match at 1230pm) and watch on TSN1, TSN4 and TSN5. @WheelerTSN [email protected] Vans Scarpe Vendita Online .com) - Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer were among the third-round winners Friday at the French Open.
